My Locale Wet & Humid Southeast....
About Me My stomping grounds are the SE US, and 90% of the time, somewhere on the AT in GA, TN, or NC. Other times I enjoy going to the Smokies, or other smaller wilderness areas such as the Savage Gulf area.
Most of my trips are between 2 - 5 days long, with rare 7 day long trips. My total pack weights are generally under 20 lbs, unless trying new gear, or carrying extra for the kids. In the dead of summer, I enjoy SUL hikes, and have given thought to XUL (almost there...)

Re: Re: Cap 2 & Cap 4
"Both from experience and theory, Cap 4 shines most when worn next to skin. It's a bit like a fishnet concept, except that Cap 4 also wicks too. The idea is to have void, stilled air space...

Re: AT thru hike proposed gear list
Agree with Ken, have you used this kit, all together? Just glancing, it looks fine for a minimalist hiker, so you will have to decide if that is what you want, but others have made it with less ...

Cap 2 & Cap 4
If you are looking to just use on layer, I think the Cap 4 hoody would be the best bet for those conditions. I like a layering system though, and for these conditions, and cooler, I always go with ...

Fuel consumption
Just wanted to point out that with my Jetboil Sol Ti, I can routinely boil 2 cups in good conditions and use 4 g of fuel. Yes, this changes in bad weather, but a good wind block really helps... :)

I saw those on the Thermarest site earlier today when looking around... have been interested in some of the UL Downmats too, but after seeing this, I will wait. The TAR site though didn't seem ...

Re: The Jetboil Sol is Dead
My guess is because of the issues with the Ti version. Likely more of a headache, and possible costly, to get it to work like they wanted... As I said though, I could be wrong, considering the issu...

Re: The problem is , no matter who owns Jetboil, its not a charity...
I could be wrong, but I don't think it's because of the lack of money that the Sol Ti is supposedly leaving the Jetboil lineup... Also, as I understand it, the entire SOL lineup is leavi...
