My Locale Wet & Humid Southeast....
About Me I have been backpacking a little over 3 years now, but in that time I have logged a number of trail miles and went through a lot of gear trying to find my sweet spot. Now, thanks to cuben fiber, alcohol stoves, down and of course a better understanding, my TPW has severly dropped! My cold weather BPW is 9 - 10 lbs and my warm weather BPW is 5 - 6 lbs.
About 95% of the time I hike with family or friends and in the SouthEastern states. My favorites places to get away are anywhere along the AT as well as in the Great Smoky Mountains.

Re: Exped UL7 W versus NeoAir XTherm L
I have different experiences with the Exped pads and my arms sliding off... I have been lying on my older Exped SynMat 7 fairly often over the last couple of weeks (granted, in my living room at...

Price Drop
So, my Ex Light Anorak came in a few days ago, and I am pretty sure I am going to keep it. It fits better now than my Ex Light jacket, and I really like that it has a pocket, waist cinch, and a hoo...

ZPacks Hexamid
Sounds to me like Sean has either never used a Hexamid, or just didn't understand how to. I am another satisfied Hexamid Solo Plus tarp & Hexanet user, and I am quite sure that you will ...

Re: Sizing
Stephen, I think it is pretty true to size, however, that is a tough question to answer as there are so many opinions on that. So, here are some of my rough measurements that may help some: Ches...

Cat Cut on ZPacks tarps
If I am not mistaken, ZPacks used to list cat cut as an option when buying their flat tarps. I just looked and it's not there anymore, but I feel sure it was at one time... Maybe I am wrong. ...

Like kev, I also used a 35 F Prodigy from Enlightened Equipment on a 7 day Olympics hike in which it rained every night but one. Not to mention all the other times I used it here in the Southeast w...

It's here!
So, my Anorak showed up today! And it is all that I hoped it would be. The fit was great, the sleeves are long enough, and the loft is what I would expect. Weight on my size large is 6.6 oz sans st...

Re: Is a cuben tarp aided by being cat-cut in the same way as silnylon tarps?
I agree, with my cuben 10 x 6.5 rectangular flat tarp from ZPacks, I cant get a super tight pitch when setting it up in A frame. A cat cut would definitely help that though. But, that's ok beca...
