My Locale Wet & Humid Southeast....
About Me I have been backpacking a little over 3 years now, but in that time I have logged a number of trail miles and went through a lot of gear trying to find my sweet spot. Now, thanks to cuben fiber, alcohol stoves, down and of course a better understanding, my TPW has severly dropped! My cold weather BPW is 9 - 10 lbs and my warm weather BPW is 5 - 6 lbs.
About 95% of the time I hike with family or friends and in the SouthEastern states. My favorites places to get away are anywhere along the AT as well as in the Great Smoky Mountains.

Re: 2 base layers vs 1 thicker layer.
In our colder months (SE) I generally go with a long sleeve Cap 2 crew, then either the Cap 4 long sleeve 1/4 zip hooded shirt, or my R1, and then my puffy. This has been a really nice system for m...

Re: Whisperer
Just curious, how do you know that it has 2.8 oz of down fill? On the Mountain Hardwear website, it doesn't state an amount for the down fill for either the jacket, or the parka. Saying that th...

top loading machine
I just want to clarify that not all top loading machines are equal. Many today are now made without an agitator (that big tower in the middle of the tub). Mine does not have an agitator and as I me...
