I dumped cingular myself about a year ago. Their phone service was ok, but their customer service was HORRID! My wife flat out refuses to go back to cingular.

I know a few people have used them for meditation. It gives the back really nice support. My legs tend to fall asleep when Im cross legged, so I have never used this item, but I thin you are right ...
