Hanging on the AT is usually very easy. Many shelters in GA TN and NC have cables to hang on. In the Smokies you have to hang (they have cables) or get fined (if you get caught) even with a bear ...

Cap Thermal Weight seems identical to last years Cap 4. It is the same 3.8oz Polartec Power Dry High Efficiency. Weight on the Crew went down from 5.4oz to 5.2, my guess is a slimmer cut.

Subtract 3.4*F per 1000ft of elevation gain from your forecast area and that "should" get you close. Of course the weather tends to be more volatile at elevation so keep that in mind.
