After 3 years of use, I agree with others that it is pretty waterproof. I still use a light pack liner to help compartmentalize dry insulation from damp tarp, etc.

Brett, I use Now brand, available at organic-type supermarkets (whole paycheck, foods for living). I don't imagine it matters though as long as you are getting 100% lanolin.
