My Locale Boulder, CO
About Me I started backpacking as a teenager in southern appalachia. My summers in college were spent in mountain heaven, glacier national park. Since then, I've lived and played in the high sierras, the cascades, and now the colorado front range. Walking into the mountains for a few days with a light pack never seems to lose its charm. I recently picked up a bad habit called climbing.

hole in the market

one of the best bags/quilts
The katabatic sawatch has been one of my favorite pieces of gear, and I've used it a lot. I've taken it considerably below the recommended rating (about 10-below) car camping with a puffy j...

Dave had issues with his alpine jacket, but I know how these forums can turn into an echo chamber, so before everyone decides equilibrium is not durable enough for backpacking, I'll add that I&...

ascend glove
I just got a pair of ascend gloves, which I'm excited about. Very similar to the trail gloves, but more protection underfoot. I loved the ground feel of the trail gloves, but there was too much...

If the purpose of your pack is to allow you to go on a backpacking trip with less than 5lbs base weight, I can see why 5oz packs would be desirable. But if your goals are more terrain and activity ...

I'm very impressed with this pack. I tried out a few packs for a planned AT thru hike (didn't pan out yet), and this was far and a away my favorite. With the stay and sitpad, the pack conforms...
