My Locale Bridger Mountains
About Me I backback most frequently in the Rockies, and most often take three-day trips. Over the past five years I've served as a Forest Service volunteer in Wyoming and Montana, doing trail maintenance. As I get older I'm always looking for ways to lighten my pack load but I'm far from ultralight. I especially like base camp trips, with day hikes from a fixed camp.

Atsko
I use Atsko Water-Guard on WPB garments, and the company offers a separate Water Guard for silnylon. You wash first with Sport Wash, then spray. Has worked quite well and much cheaper than Nikwax.

Elisabeth, These are two side trips off the Circuit that I recommend highly. When I did the Circuit in 1999 the water was too high to get to Valle Frances, but it's supposed to be one of the...

A great way to spend three days, and a great course. Four instructors for eight students (difficult to improve on that ratio), all of them knowledgeable, friendly, and good at instructing. Great scen...
