@dylan : yes there is a slender hipbelt (almost padded stubs) that fits me at 36-ish (is adjustable in center); probably fit a BV in there vertical (maybe horizontal) but let me check my REI tomorr...

Just a bump with some volumes that some have asked about... The Half Dome has a main pack volume of 55 L (measured with fluid filled standard - actual volume wouldn't be as usable with stove...
