My Locale Oregon and Washington
About Me I started hiking about 45 years ago. My first backpack was 40 years ago. I currently try to do one backpack trip of 5 nights every month (which can be tricky in the winter) 20 to 50 miles. Mostly I stay around Mount Hood, Columbia Gorge, Mount Adams, Goat Rocks, and the Olympic Peninsula. In recent years I have shifted to lightweight - my pack weight without food and water is about 15 lb (7 kg). I make a lot of my own gear - silnylon tarp-tent, bivy, synthetic bag, simple bag style pack. My sleeping pad is a Therm-a-Rest air mattress.

Re: Re: Build a better raincoat
One thing about separate rain skirt is there isn't as much air flow inside. Where the skirt is against your waist. If it's a coat hanging down, air is free to flow. But I have an elast...

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: "Trump disses McCain in Iowa"
Yeah, JFK and LBJ had fairly liberal policies. Maybe the pendulum went too far left. A lot of it was civil rights. A lot of pent up bad will since civil war that never got reconciled. Like LB...

Kennedy got elected. He wasn't from the South. Clinton and Obama are both pretty moderate. The "Karl Rove" propogandists have got people thinking they're liberal. Even Berni...
