My Locale Extreme northern Sierra Nevada
About Me I'm 60, single male. I had been in Retail Management for over 30 years. I have mostly solo bped since the early mid '70's. I XC some, not afraid to go alone, I also solo winter camp, even out in sub-zero temps. A few years ago, I went on a backcountry bp to Alaska, where I flew in by bush plane with five others into Wrangell/St. Elias NP. Since early 2010, I have been collecting vintage/antique camping and bp stoves, having acquired over 90 now. I like many outdoor activities, from bping to dirtbike riding, gardening.

Removing pine sap from down jacket?
If at home, I use margarine or butter, Crisco, cooking oil or such to apply to hands, allowing time to work, heat helps it act, allowing the agent to melt and break up the sap. Not good I'd th...

NeoAir Xtherm Noise?
I'm fine with my regular length, used it last winter snow camping. I'll have to get it out and see what noise there was. Love having lost the bulk and weight of a DAM. Duane

Gas canisters
You need special labeling to ship the canisters via USPS, plus there is a liquid max amount per box. May not be worth the hassle, but could be done. You'd have to ask a helpful USPS employee....

regular ccf pad under large inflatable pad
Cascade Designs says to put the ccf on the bottom, which I've done for years, more comfortable too, at least for my tossing and turning old body. I use a really light Nightlite pad from Gossa...

I was out two weekends ago in the Bucks Lake Wilderness, 4 hour hike, lunch about and hour in, then another brief break after about 2 hours then a snack about 3.5 hours out. No soreness from using...

Mike, I followed your link last night, you have to look, but the 40% off code was there, despite showing to the contrary on their site also. I needed nothing, so went along my merry way. Duane

Winter Stove Discussion-2014
I collect stoves, so I prefer the ones 30-40 years old or more. A real jewel is a Radius 43 with roarer burner, simmers so great, uses kerosene, not sure of its age. The DF is very adjustable, qu...
