Re: North Lake Loop via Piute Pass and Lamarck Col
Awesome. Looks like you've got the camera figured out. Those are some of the best shots I've seen from this season.

Re: Re: Fire in El Portal / Yosemite NPS
Dunno how things are near Mammoth now, but this weekend there was zero smoke further south in Goddard Canyon, despite the French Fire.

Re: Mossies in the high sierra?
Still some skeeters out there in damp or meadowy areas next to lakes. Saw almost none above treeline. I was glad to have a bug proof shirt this weekend and slept in my head net one night. They most...

Re: 1ST week of food for JMT
Have fun Jay! I'd post some food photos too (glad I'm not the only one that takes those) but am literally about to walk out the door for a 4 day ttrip in the John Muir Wilderness.

Re: Brook's Range Traverse
The Triple A was the inspiration for his route. Looks like gnarly conditions, not sure if I'm happy that I decided not to join them or sad that I'm sitting on my couch instead. Definitely s...

Re: Disposing of fishy parts
I don't know the official LNT answer, but I always throw the guts as far as I can towards the center of the lake. Fish die in the water all the time, so I don't really think you can call it...

zpacks Company
I had the same experience as everyone else here. Joe got me a customized piece of gear on time and was very responsive to my questions and requests. Can't do much better than that.

The Ohm is my go-to pack for trips that don't require a bear can. You can fit a Bearikade in it, but it's not very comfortable because it bulges into your back. I put a plastic frame sheet fro...
