My Locale Midwest
About Me I am in my late-40's and really got interested in backpacking about 10 years ago as a way to have some concentrated time with my boys, now all finishing up high school or in college. I try to get out a few times a year, including a bi-annual trip to Colorado for some of the big stuff. Otherwise I am stuck in the very boring midwest where everything exciting is a good day's drive away.

Hmmm...
The Echo I looks like a pretty tight fit and I'm 6'1", 245 lbs. I don't need the insert and due to the design looks like the A frame is the only option for pitching, correct?

I like it
I like the frame on the new REI Flash 45. I think it is stiff enough vertically stay comfortable in the 25-30 range but has enough flexibility from side to side that it moves with your stride. I ...

Just some quick observations from my own experience hiking with my wife...if the weather that you'll be hiking in is mostly moderate then consider a quilt for both of you. It's easy to ...

Indiana?
I'm in Indy and would travel up to 5 hrs to hit a GGG. Never been to one so curious to see everyone's gear and meet some other BPL'ers. Hope we get it done!

In Indy
I live in Indianapolis and would travel up to 5 hrs to a GGG. Southern IN has some nice state forests around Brown County. A weekend would be ideal and probably sometime in June, after the kids g...
