Nigel, I do in fact use BD trekking poles, so that may make my notch setup a good bit sturdier than one using the optional easton poles.

Compression
I find the Crown easier to compress down to smaller sizes. Two compression cords on the sides, two attached to the rolltop, and two on top of the pack.
