Adam, I can make an alcohol burner same diameter as the StarLyte XL and reduce the height to 1/2" so it would be compatible with a cone made for esbit. The cone would be made to hold the pot 1...

I snuck in one test using a 1" distance to pot. It took what seemed to be forever to consume the fuel and reach a temperature of 210. At that distance it would make for a good simmer height.
