My Locale Bridger Mountains
About Me I backback most frequently in the Rockies, and most often take three-day trips. Over the past five years I've served as a Forest Service volunteer in Wyoming and Montana, doing trail maintenance. As I get older I'm always looking for ways to lighten my pack load but I'm far from ultralight. I especially like base camp trips, with day hikes from a fixed camp.

Ibex wool lofted jacket
I saw this at the OR Winter Show. It looks to be about the same size as fleece, probably a bit heavier. Uses merino wool for the loft. Don't know how well it compresses for pack storage. Looked...

First rate book
Picked one up at the OR Show, and I really like it. Easy to read, good illustrations, and - best of all - common sense about saving weight. Highly recommended.
