About Me Mostly 2 to 3 day loops, with a couple weeklong trips too. Debating whether to go 2 weeks or more. Lightening up but with an eye towards toughness and hiking convenience (secure drying on the trail. quick set up, etc...), but also a bit better food (and beverage) for most overnights. Then again I might want to do a spartan "fast n'light" overnight ... and the gear closet grows.
I'll update my gear list tomorrow ...

Enjoyed the photos. Were the potatoes, carrots, and sausage a stew or soup (been reading the Complete Walker and thinking stew recipes)

Re: $1500 fee for "commercial" use in USFS wilderness lands
The reason they are doing this is probably due to exhausting their firefighting budget on these western mega fires for the second year in a row. http://www.outsideonline.com/news-from-the-field/...

Forest svc budget
Might have to do with generating more revenue since the increase in forest fires has depleted their firefighting budget for the second year in a row. http://www.outsideonline.com/news-from-the-f...

Watching the flash flood?
@GGrey - They are powerful but I try to be elsewhere on vacation during the southwest "monsoons" season myself (usually right after the 4th of July). Many roadways can get flooded too.
