My Locale Sunshine State
About Me Began hiking in the Carolinas, some in Virginia and now in Florida - much less variation in terrain, I'm sad to say, but beautiful in its own right. A Gatewood Cape w/Serenity is my primary solo shelter nowadays.

I'm also into kayaking & fishing.

Re: Nail clipping
While not lighter in & of itself, it is light, and multi-use: a Gerber nail clip w/ knife & scissors. I can't find them anymore, but I bought mine on ebay. The knife blade sucks, the ...

Re: knife
Aziz, I, too, carry the P4 - love it! And like Jake, I get the most a lot of use from scissors, so I also carry a gerber knife w/scissors & integrated nail clipper too. I'll weigh the ...

Re: Gear repair kit
Your list looks great. I also assume you carry some sort of knife???? I include it in my repair kit weight. Given that you want 1oz, w/ a knife on top of your list you can handle most mishaps!

Tommy, I can't say I won't use a bag again. However, ask a few others who spend more nights in colder climates what they think. While I do get to spend a few nights in the cold each ye...

Re: Thinking quilt
If you're like me and roll in your sleep then drafts will be an issue. (I use JRB quilts, by the way) Note that drafts generally aren't an issue if you sleep in a hammock! To stop this...
