My Locale Under a bush in Scotland
About Me I've hiked, climbed and backpacked for over 30 years, mostly in the Scottish Highlands. I used to run distance, and adventure races. Injuries have curtailed that. I'm 'into' anything outdoor orientated. Wildlife watching is a favourite past-time.

Re : Cheap rain gear
Check out your local TKMAXX Paul. You'll get kitted out for not a lot of money. I wouldn't use DriDucks for typical UK hillwalking. It wouldn't last a days bash through sharp heather a...

Re : DWR for down
Nikwax wax based? Only if you use their product for waxed jackets! They have various products, including Down Proof for down clothing and sleeping bags.

Re : Inflatable quilt
The closure problem is what i'm thinking about. Obviously it needs to be non damaging to the polycro. The sealed end would be the head end anyway!

Re : Inflatable quilt
I thought the original idea was just for an air quilt Rog? If you are adding insulation, then how about just taping 2 sheets of polycro together and stuffing it with grass, leaves etc each night? ...

Re : Inflatable quilt
We all know that air-beds offer virtually no insulation. Why would a quilt be any different? Unless you had thousands of little air pockets, each with their own valve, to stop the air movement?

Re : E-vent sleeping bags.
The only fully waterproof e-Vent shelled bags i'm aware of are from UK outfit Crux. Their Torpedo bags are fully taped. Expensive though.
