My Locale Northern California
About Me Steve Nelson, Winter Systems Editor, has been backpacking and playing in the snow since he was a kid growing up in upstate New York. Now living in California, he backpacks throughout the Sierra Nevada and Cascades, and has a special love for winter camping, snowshoeing and backcountry skiing. He likes to travel fast and light, is always on the lookout for ways to safely shave ounces from gear, and never met a storm he didn't enjoy.
