My Locale Extreme northern Sierra Nevada
About Me I'm 60, single male. I had been in Retail Management for over 30 years. I have mostly solo bped since the early mid '70's. I XC some, not afraid to go alone, I also solo winter camp, even out in sub-zero temps. A few years ago, I went on a backcountry bp to Alaska, where I flew in by bush plane with five others into Wrangell/St. Elias NP. Since early 2010, I have been collecting vintage/antique camping and bp stoves, having acquired over 90 now. I like many outdoor activities, from bping to dirtbike riding, gardening.

I've noticed the elevation tires me out quicker. My best mileage day was a few years ago, 21? miles along the PCT down to the Feather River. Jogging part of the last 4 miles helped quite a bi...

I had quite a bit of condensation in my Solplex about three weeks ago now. It had stopped raining, so my plan to hike up a local FS road went smoothly. No rain overnight, but lots of condensation...

Ever wonder why there isn't an aluminum Trangia alcohol burner?
Sometimes when I'm priming one of my old brassy stoves, it will spit out some small droplets of alcohol, neat to see them, especially if just before dark. I use denatured alcohol on everything...
