My Locale Oregon and Washington
About Me I started hiking about 45 years ago. My first backpack was 40 years ago. I currently try to do one backpack trip of 5 nights every month (which can be tricky in the winter) 20 to 50 miles. Mostly I stay around Mount Hood, Columbia Gorge, Mount Adams, Goat Rocks, and the Olympic Peninsula. In recent years I have shifted to lightweight - my pack weight without food and water is about 15 lb (7 kg). I make a lot of my own gear - silnylon tarp-tent, bivy, synthetic bag, simple bag style pack. My sleeping pad is a Therm-a-Rest air mattress.

Re: Re: Re: SEAM SEALING???? Tarp tent SS1
Have you used it without sealing? Did it leak? I never seal a tent and have never noticed any leaking. Except, for example, where I had a velcro tie-down. With seams, the water just flows...

Re: Initial Test Results
How hot did the water get in the never boiled cases? What are the units of time to boil, seconds? Why did trial 6 take shorter time, but burned 2 more g of fuel, seems like that would take lo...

"It seems that the trick is that Jetboil keeps the flame closer to the pot, smaller and contained within heat exchanger." That's what I think may be the case The old MSR heat ex...

Re: finding someone else's rope: take it down or leave it up?
Leave rope - just my opinion Maybe someone put it there and expects it for return. If you remove it they'll be stranded. Maybe officials put it up.

Re: cheap butane canisters
Okay 30 F not so good. 40 F should be okay. I was using it last year at something like that.
