My Locale Wet & Humid Southeast....
About Me My stomping grounds are the SE US, and 90% of the time, somewhere on the AT in GA, TN, or NC. Other times I enjoy going to the Smokies, or other smaller wilderness areas such as the Savage Gulf area.
Most of my trips are between 2 - 5 days long, with rare 7 day long trips. My total pack weights are generally under 20 lbs, unless trying new gear, or carrying extra for the kids. In the dead of summer, I enjoy SUL hikes, and have given thought to XUL (almost there...)

Re: MB
+1 for the MB Alpine Light Down Parka. It uses a 30D shell, so plenty tough for everyday use. Has nice hand warmer pockets, a nice big, adjustable hood to fit over my ball cap, or over my beanie. I...

Re: Sawyer Mini leaking with a Platy
Yeah, the thread pitch on the Squeeze and the Mini are the same, so the same bladders that didn't work with the Squeeze won't work on the Mini either. I have about 7 or 8 Platy's, which...

I do
I use them on mine, and like them. For me, they are not in the way, uncomfy, and provide extra warmth... in addition to my BRG down hat, and/or the hood on my Cap 4 hoody, and even the rain jacket.

Smooth finish
Another vote for the smooth, at-home, feel over the somewhat textured versions. I have an REI Ti-Ware long handle spoon that is my favorite, for this reason. I also have a Vargo long handle spoon t...

Umbrella
You can get the LiteFlex Silver umbrella (same umbrella as GoLites, but without the annoying logo) off of Amazon for $24 + $11 S&H, which is still cheaper than GoLite by a couple of dollars. ...

I like my Instaflator, but admit, I will be using the little Mini Pump more than it on cold weather trips...

Re: sizing
I agree, I love mine... although, I did forget them on a recent hike... and I found myself really wishing I wouldn't have... As for sizing, my palm measures 3 & 7/8 inches wide (at it...

Re: Re: Re: black diamond alpine carbon cork poles
I have been using mine for a while now, and am happy enough with them. I picked mine up off of S&C for $60 or so... they were the previous years model with a flick lock, but it was plastic inst...

Totally agree! They have done an outstanding job with all of my interactions with them... which has been a few... :) Definitely a top notch company though when it comes to both, their gear, and th...
