Considering the climate that you stated you normally go, you may want to consider a double wall. FWIW- I live in oregon and use a cloudburst with no problems

Being an answer of no authority and absolutely opinion only- I say go for it. I THINK that if you were to reseal it in a vacuum pack it would be ok. Nothing can survive in a vacuum, right? ...

+1 Bob I just wait till it looks like pee, then pour into water. (Personally I use 7drops per liter) I don't know what the recommended amount is, but I do 7.
