My Locale Bohemian Alps
About Me Running in the hills north of Lincoln NE, where, in the words of Ted Koosier, the glaciers kicked the mud and rocks off of their galoshes before stomping back to Canada.
Running 3-6 miles every day. Counting down to Canada trip in 2015 and a dinner at Mo's West on the way home. Walking out to short overnights, driving out when I get the rare two days-off in a row.

Hey Eric,
I'm sure that they will put Maia on this right away, but remember that: 1) Labs have really short attention spans, 2) She has paws, difficult to type with, 3) Stickeys may not be supported b...

Does anyone use builders insulation wrap under their sleeping mats?
Mik, I use DuPont Tyvek, white on both sides. I have used an aluminized mylar sheet in the past, as a way to insulate from cold ground but then had to deal with condensation as the mylar didn't...

Whats the best way to stay dry in the rain
Lots of spot-on comments here! More of basic techniques and philosophy than gear... but always plan on the weather changing. NOAA will show you what is coming your way, rely on it. Fleece and...

"Near" or "far", not really.
With two or three days off as the biggest limitation, either I spend lots of drive time and not much hiking or less time driving and more hiking. The nearest wildlife management area is only a 10.2...

Which route? Hmmmm
Herb, Looks like your pre-planning went well. Lamar Valley & Specimen Ridge are great for superb vistas and wildlife of all sizes. This would be my first pick. Pitchstone Plateau ...
