My Locale South Florida
About Me I have a place in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and hike there a few times a year and looking forward to retiring there in a few years.

In Florida, most of my camping involves kayaking on our beautiful river swamps and kicking the alligators off the banks to pitch a tent.

Re: "Manufacturer of "Momentum" .9 Ripstop Fabric?"
No idea who the manufacturer is but Outdoor Wilderness Fabrics (www.owfinc.com) sells it for around $10, depending on taffeta or ripstop. They simply call it 20 denier nylon, but it is exactly the ...

Re: Winter gloves
I can't praise the OR Endeavors enough. They are the warmest and most reliably dry mitts I have ever encountered. I always pack a pair of smartwool liners, also.

Re: State of the Market Report: Two-Person Double-Wall Tents (2010)
The way I see it, there may be two different reasons for wanting a "double wall" tent. In muggy, buggy tropical areas (my native Florida) a tent like the Big Agnes Seedhouse allows one t...

Re: current update
Ike, I have been researching this topic also and have decided that the general consensus is not to sew cuben. That leaves two options, glue or tape, each having advantages & disadvantages. G...
