My Locale So-Cal
About Me 46 years old. Married with two kids- Daughter born in 2000, son born in 2003. Loved camping as a little kid. Then we moved to the foot of Mt. Whitney when I was 13. I spent my teenage years backpacking, hiking, snowshoeing, xc & downhill skiing. A lot less since then (living in LA).

Re: Why the (Jetboil) width / height choices?
I agree it's frustrating. Jetboil originally only sold 100 gram "Jetpower" canisters. Clearly the PCS was designed with that in mind. Then they added 230 and finally 450. To me ...

Re: largest gas canisters which fit inside the Jetboil Sol?
I'll check tonight- but it looks like the Sol may be slightly larger inside diameter than the PCS. It always seemed that the SnowPeak 110 cans were a snug fit in the PCS but they seem much loo...

Re: What are your daily hiking mileage goals?
It depends. (?) I've done a few 20 mile days but generally like less. I don't get out too often so the first few days of a trip I prefer to take it easy. Unfortunately about the time I...

Re: Why the width / height choices?
It's about 4 oz heavier- but Jetboil does have a bigger pot for the Sol. Jetboil's Sumo Ti pot is 1.8 liters and will contain a 230 or 450 gram canister attached to the stove.
