My Locale NorCal - South Bay
About Me I love the wilderness and UL gear.
I went on my first backpacking trip in Oregon when I was 6 weeks old (AUG72). It snowed all night long. When day light came I was the only thing left dry. Just wish I could remember it!

In 2000 my first UL trip resulted in a night hike to stay warm. Wrong gear.

Finished the BPL Scouting course (May 2010). Very cool. It was like closing a door. I feel like I can teach the principals now.

RE: How hard is it to find denatured alcohol?
Not hard at all. I buy it by the gallon at Ace Hardware here in California. You can also buy it by the pint. It is usually in the painting aisle at the hardware or paint supply store.

I purchased this stove earlier this summer and I like it. It is a good size. We (my boys and I) have tested it thoroughly and we like it. The weight is pretty heavy but I love how it folds down....

"framed or frameless pack?"
I think you are fine with the Jam 2 as long as your total weight is under 20 pounds. I used one just about every day bike commuting with at least that weight and on many 2-3 day hikes. No problem.
