My Locale Rocky Mountains
About Me My favorite location for backpacking is the Black Ridge Wilderness near Grand Junction - no trails, no people, lots of arches and alcoves. I enjoy hiking, canyoneering, snowshoeing, and rock climbing. I have a passion for natural arches, especially documenting significant ones on the Colorado Plateau. I go on short solo backpacking trips at least once a month.

Cougar Tracks in Black Ridge
Donald, The Black Ridge Wilderness does have a lot of cougar tracks. They are often very fresh prints. I see cougar tracks more often than I see the footprints of people. I'm not paranoid abo...

Cougar Perimeter Fence or other ideas
Backpacking Monday night, I had a cougar wake me up. It growled repeatively, loudly, nearby. After shining my headlight in the direction of the sound, I couldn't see anything. I decided quickly ...

Big Agnes Clearview
I've had a Clearview Pad for a little while now. For the warmer conditions the pad is designed for, I think it is the best choice. It is very comfortable. It is very lightweight. Another big ad...
