My Skin-Out weight without consumables is in the 14-15lb range when going solo. You're not too far off at 18.8lbs; especially if its only two nights and you don't have a weight goal in mind.

It's likely due to the salty sweat deposits on the grips. They really like cork grips, almost like a salt lick to them. You could try put a stake through the wrist straps to keep them in place.
