Two points - you can heat up the vaseline in the microwave ... Its easier and safer - dont soak the entire ball ... Youll need to leave some fluff for it to catch a spark if yr using a firest...

If you are on a budget, there are lots of 100w/200w fleece tops at much lower cost. Once you know how to layer, the real differences in all this stuff is small. UL gear is really performance based ...

ANY wpb jacket can delaminate ... 3 layer ones tend to be more durable, but a simple google search will show goretex and event DO fail ... hell one that was sent to BPL to test failed you should...

Honestly folks If you want guaranteed brethability ... Get a thin non membranee softshell Sure you pay the weight penalty ... But they last a long time and are always on sale Or get a wind...

Montbell Extremely Light Down Jacket
the key to using this jacket is to use it under a windshell or synthetic jacket like a nanopuff by itself the shell is fairly fragile, there are no pockets, there is no waist string ... however ...
