My Locale Scotts Valley CA via San Jose, CA
About Me A return to backpacking after a musicians life. Hiked with too much weight before finding out the "lite" side. I live in Scotts Valley which is right in the middle of the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains, and only 10 minutes from the beach and 15 minutes from Los Gatos. Love the Sierra's!!! Too many places to see and go!

Re: more days/miles
Bob's suggestion is a great one. Once you head to Steelhead Lake. ..crowds will be sparse., even in that part of Yosemite. You can end your hike near the old mining town near the eastern entran...

That is me on the right that Ken posted.....Bob did a trip in SEKI with us a few years ago. He was great to hike with and was very enjoyable. The initial post about Bob I find a tad snarky.

Chris, a few things on Shepherds Pass. First the trailhead is at 5000 feet or so. You are better off sleeping at the campgrounds at the Onion Valley trailhead which is much higher. It is only like ...

Been using ULA packs for years. Bought the P2, P1 and now the Conduit. All are excellent in their own way. Customer service is perfect and so is the gear. Great packs!!!

Came home to find a rather colorful small box on my porch today. Wow it is small. I have always thought that it would be cool to have a small bear cannister for 1-2 nights of backpacking. Well here it...
