About Me I love the wilderness and UL gear.
I went on my first backpacking trip in Oregon when I was 6 weeks old (AUG72). It snowed all night long. When day light came I was the only thing left dry. Just wish I could remember it!

In 2000 my first UL trip resulted in a night hike to stay warm. Wrong gear.

Finished the BPL Scouting course (May 2010). Very cool. It was like closing a door. I feel like I can teach the principals now.

RE: "Rate Your Hiking Ability"
I got a 50%... I think it isn't too honest though. I included some of my Army time. I was a UH (Ultra Heavy)hiker then. Even when we did it for fun. I would have given me a 20%. UL is a...

I am prone to loan most of my good gear out. Or as luck would have it I would have to leave it behind somewhere because of my job. I don't let the Pinnacle go. I can pack plenty of gear ...

Hey, you gave me a mission looking at your list. I think I can get this even lighter and, probably cheaper as I have gotten tired of buying gear and have started making a lot of it. I will take a...

I saw this thread and had to kick it out again to get me re-motivated and out the door. Why backpacking? For me it is the challenge of getting somewhere in a certian amount of time. Then hones...

I started my youngest son, at 7 years old, with a Golite Jam. This pack works really great for the smaller hiker. Purchase a women's small. They come in 'boy' colors so he won...
