"Early Season Trip in Yosemite - Mono Meadows to Red Peak Pass/Isberg Pass area"
Great report! I love this whole area of Yosemite, and the various trail/offtrail options in the Isberg/triple divide area. Unbelievable how you could do this at this time of year. Many years ago...

"Closest to a Sunday Afternoons Adventure Hat without being a Sunday Afternoons Adventure Hat?"
I forgot to mention that between me and the camel it's the camel that would be the real looker... I don't have a photo but it's the Solumbra adult shade cap with crossover drape. It&...

"Closest to a Sunday Afternoons Adventure Hat without being a Sunday Afternoons Adventure Hat?"
Allen I have a very similar hat/drape combo that is even slightly more extreme. The thing is, during mosquito season, I can velcro up the drape all the way over my nose when I'm in a swarm, and...

Closest to a Sunday Afternoons Adventure Hat without being a Sunday Afternoons Adventure Hat?"
It takes a big brim to actually provide full facial sun coverage. Good looking baseball style hats aren't worth much for that. Just take a look at someone over a few minutes time who's wear...

"JMT Start in Mid September? Lyell Canyon?"
Brian's notion of 'not too bad' puts him into the minority, I'd think: he must be in great shape! sure, that hike is doable, but may not be enjoyable, even with a day pack: it depen...

"Anyone know of a truly odorless soap in bar form?
I'm looking at an old one called Trek and Travel. Wait, yes, Sea to Summit. Yeah, I was guestimating the weight; .05 seems entirely possible. Very light. Here's the deal: do not touch th...

"Anyone know of a truly odorless soap in bar form?"
I've mentioned in other posts how much I like those plastic clam shells filled with leaves of soap that REI sells. They only weigh about two ounces and they don't get everything around them...

These boots really are a breeze on your feet. Unlike another reviewer, I found these boots to have terrific ankle support. However, the deal-killer for me is the relatively narrow toe box. Full disclo...
