Folks, If you are going to layer OVER a windshirt you need wind resistant insulation This means a light synth puffy Climbers do this all the time and have since the nanopuff became popular...

its called a non membrane softshell ... as ive said over and over again ... if you want breathable ... get a thin non membrane softshell the problem with less "breathable" windshirt...

now thats a VERY interesting question IMO how does a windshirt breath after a decent amount of usage i can say with my trail wind it doesnt seem to breath much better ... i suspect it all ...

if you are looking for "comfort" rating .. itll be 10F less than the lower limit rating in general ... so i suspect for most manufacturers youll need somerthing 10F lower than their gener...

Montbell Extremely Light Down Jacket
the key to using this jacket is to use it under a windshell or synthetic jacket like a nanopuff by itself the shell is fairly fragile, there are no pockets, there is no waist string ... however ...
