Re: Plastic spork vs Ti spork ?
I agree, the throwaway sporks can easily break when you don't want them to. A nice quality lexan spork should run just a few bucks. I have an old GSI one that is light, cheap, and nicely colore...

Re: GPS on JMT? Which Topo Maps ??
I wouldn't even consider one. An altimeter would be nice though, since things seemed to be defined in terms of elevation rather than distance out there.

Re: Thermolite insulated bag liner
This thing seems to pop up every week. Greatest marketing lie ever. I bet they make a ton of money off of it.

Re: down jacket ?'s

Re: Snowshoe Daypack
I use the REI Flash 30. I really like it. It carries all my stuff, plus crampons, poles, ice axe, shovel, and snowshoes. I even magnaged to cram in two pickets, but not the rope. The GoLite Pea...

Re: Insulating jacket for JMT: Montbell Alpine Light Parka, Alpine jacket, or something else?
I didn't read all of that. Sorry. I used an Alpine Light for mid-June to early July a few years back. I wouldn't call it overkill, but I could have gotten by with less and probably never ...
