Lightweight Lid...
Good question Tony. I like to use the lid that came with my pot (.7 oz.) because I suspect it keeps the heat in a little better and also lets me know when the water is boiling (starts to rattle)...

Vibram Soles...
Another vote for Merrell. I really like my Moab Ventilators, they dry out quickly and have held up very well.

GPS Recommendations...
Since the original poster wants "you are here" functionality then telling him that you "Don't need no mapping or H gps" is not very helpful. The Geko and Foretrex do not...

I also prefer the MSR pack towel. The 24"X12" size weighs less than an ounce (without the carry pouch). The little snap fastener and strap that they put on the corner of the towel makes...

Steripen Usage..
I cut the bottom off of a 2 litre Platy bottle and inserted a small filter screen into the pull spout to get rid of some of the floaters. It makes a nice scoop and I have marked the bag with a .5 ...

Kitchen cover...
I have a 5 X 8 Integral Designs siltarp that weighs 6.9 oz. Nicely made with lots of tie-outs. I particularly like the tie-out that they put in the centre of the tarp (suspends nicely from a tree).

Mountain Laurel Designs Burn (2010)
I've had my MLD Burn for a while now and find it very easy to give this pack top marks in all categories. I was looking for a good weekend pack (2-3 day duration) and was having a tough time findi...
