My Locale South Florida
About Me I have a place in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and hike there a few times a year and looking forward to retiring there in a few years.

In Florida, most of my camping involves kayaking on our beautiful river swamps and kicking the alligators off the banks to pitch a tent.

Re: what kinds of threads?
+3 on Guttermans. As a matter of fact, double that because JoAnn Fabrics has a 50% off sale on all Guttermans threads! I just stocked up yesterday. I use the standard strength, 100% polyester.

Re: "Nylon shock cord - breaking strength?"
Great idea, Newton! I was always secretly worried about the integrity of the shock cord. This makes it a non-issue!
