My Locale Earth (mostly)
About Me Semi-retired from a govt type job working on the side. Goal here is more MPD in a UL, yet comfy style to experience scenic hikes without sweating buckets, but also crank out miles if needed for whatever. Mix hikes with travel too. Not into snowy sagas or recreating a French Foreign Legion forced desert march .. but never say never.

Gear list was for 3 days but made it almost as a "24-hour" adventure (like 25 hours) using the Z-pack

Re: Where to go this summer?
For plain old backpacking, many (but not all) of the denizens of the desert go to higher forested mountains to avoid the heat. 2012 most everything was open and great thru the summer. Last year an...

Re: Re: Re: Re: NM packraft
Great adventure and way to get around the forest fire closures - met a few in the NM outdoors (mtbikers, ranch-hands, etc..) running into striking juvenile rattlers throughout the summer, so wouldn...

Re: Spring break hiking extravaganza
The lower elevations of the Gila will be snow free in all likelihood. There are many stream crossings on the Middle Fork of the Gila tho. Not sure how your dog would react to swift stream crossing...
