Re: re: date approaching for MT trip
So, according to Cairn topographic map, it will be about 10.5 miles to the first camp with 600-700 feet of elevation gain over those miles. From there, it looks like it's another 5 miles to Ca...

Route
I mapped the route out on Hillmap.com (linked here). It looks like it will be right at 26.6 miles give or take. Double-check me--did I get it right?

Re: another choice: different brand on costco.com
According to the specifications on Costco's website, the shaft material is aluminum, even though they say carbon fiber in the title. Looking at the picture more closely, it looks like the uppe...

Re: CCF combo for winter
I was always carrying a 1/8" CCF with my XLite, but with the more durable fabric on the XTherm, I can leave that at home. I actually saved about 1/3 of an ounce, and it's a simpler system...

Thanks Roger. I'm mostly interested in how far I could extend the pole for the center support in a pyramid shelter. It sounds intriguing so far.

Re: Re: Re: Easton UL Carbon 3 Trekking Poles Spotlite Review
How far can these poles be extended past 140 cm--if at all? All my three-piece poles usually say "STOP" about 2.5cm (on each section) above the listed length. If they are like all the...

Re: Trip Ideas in the Northern Rockies
Would you be willing to go just a bit farther north? Glacier would offer fantastic peak bagging and wildlife opportunities (probably a little more so than the Bob where the hunters make the wild...
