My Locale Oregon and Washington
About Me I started hiking about 45 years ago. My first backpack was 40 years ago. I currently try to do one backpack trip of 5 nights every month (which can be tricky in the winter) 20 to 50 miles. Mostly I stay around Mount Hood, Columbia Gorge, Mount Adams, Goat Rocks, and the Olympic Peninsula. In recent years I have shifted to lightweight - my pack weight without food and water is about 15 lb (7 kg). I make a lot of my own gear - silnylon tarp-tent, bivy, synthetic bag, simple bag style pack. My sleeping pad is a Therm-a-Rest air mattress.

I was bit in the parking lot at Tilley Jane, very minor though, just a poorly trained dog, didn't seem particularly agressive, just energetic. Then they left a plastic bag of poop on top of th...

I missed that before. Great video. Really good description of that trip. I'll probably not do that because it's so far away but I'm thinking about it. That would be a doable trip ...

Re: 2 sleeping bags, 1 person
Theoretically, yes If your top bag compresses your bottom bag some, then the boost will be less. Your top bag has to be much wider to go around the bottom bag including it's loft. The he...
