My Locale Oregon and Washington
About Me I started hiking about 45 years ago. My first backpack was 40 years ago. I currently try to do one backpack trip of 5 nights every month (which can be tricky in the winter) 20 to 50 miles. Mostly I stay around Mount Hood, Columbia Gorge, Mount Adams, Goat Rocks, and the Olympic Peninsula. In recent years I have shifted to lightweight - my pack weight without food and water is about 15 lb (7 kg). I make a lot of my own gear - silnylon tarp-tent, bivy, synthetic bag, simple bag style pack. My sleeping pad is a Therm-a-Rest air mattress.

So when logic fails you accuse me of not being able to read and think? And if I point out the error of your ways you "can't be bothered to repeat yourself"? When you didn't sa...

Ronson fuel canisters
Ronson fuel canisters are 2.75 ounces of iso-butane - might be a good size for lightweight backpacking After years, I finally emptied a canister so I tried removing that plastic piece: Bo...

Re: could this vapour mesh actually do something ?
That makes sense it would be faster, as you hypothesized The question though, is will it work at a colder temperature, but that's pretty unrelated. If it evaporates faster, it will get more...

More confusing - another plot The green must be the same as the light blue on your first plot "NOAA CPC:ONI" except at a finer scale The red isn't from that plot. Maybe the thi...

"So why does it happen every 4 years or so, and why is every 3rd one a big one? The big ones tend to start at around the lowest point in the solar cycle, when there is less energy being pushed...
