My Locale Oregon and Washington
About Me I started hiking about 45 years ago. My first backpack was 40 years ago. I currently try to do one backpack trip of 5 nights every month (which can be tricky in the winter) 20 to 50 miles. Mostly I stay around Mount Hood, Columbia Gorge, Mount Adams, Goat Rocks, and the Olympic Peninsula. In recent years I have shifted to lightweight - my pack weight without food and water is about 15 lb (7 kg). I make a lot of my own gear - silnylon tarp-tent, bivy, synthetic bag, simple bag style pack. My sleeping pad is a Therm-a-Rest air mattress.

Re: Dreaming with my tax return...
How about dreaming that next year you'll have no refund because you didn't give the government an interest free loan for the year? (just kidding - I'm such a party pooper troll : )

Re: Re: The Care and Feeding of Lindal Valves
Since I had 1 of maybe 30 and other people haven't had a problem, it's probably rare. Mine was a Snow Peak. I used it one time - that is, I removed the cap and immediately screwed on st...

Re: Summer quilt fabric
Nobul1 is cheap and light. I had a problem with downproofness so I might not do that again but maybe it was just that batch. I used it for lining of synthetic quilt and it worked great. Comforta...

Re: The Care and Feeding of Lindal Valves
Interesting as usual, thanks I had a canister once. It was a screw thread type. When I unscrewed stove there was a slow leak. I just left stove on until it was empty. Must have been dirt bet...
