one other thing about Katabatic
if choosing one of their quilts, their ratings are very conservative imo- look at the loft on their spec sheet, my 30 degree quilt is in all reality a 20 quilt

thick, tall wool socks

^ that's the way I do fires in the winter out of necessity as I'm often on 5'+ of snow, so you have to have a large platform for the fire to burn on- have to say it works pretty well ...
