My Locale Extreme northern Sierra Nevada
About Me I'm 60, single male. I had been in Retail Management for over 30 years. I have mostly solo bped since the early mid '70's. I XC some, not afraid to go alone, I also solo winter camp, even out in sub-zero temps. A few years ago, I went on a backcountry bp to Alaska, where I flew in by bush plane with five others into Wrangell/St. Elias NP. Since early 2010, I have been collecting vintage/antique camping and bp stoves, having acquired over 90 now. I like many outdoor activities, from bping to dirtbike riding, gardening.

Alcohol stove in high sierra late summer
We've already had a forest fire on the Plumas NF last week, at the northern end of the Sierra Nevada. Be careful out there, don't burn me out. Duane

Camping close to TH and food storage in Glacier NP
Bob, it may take too much time, just with the straight shot up 93. I'll have to MapQuest it to see what the mileage will be like. I've taken a little over a day and a half before to get t...

Lost cost trail: like hiking on sand?
I've only done the north section once. The "trail" is a combo of loose sand, firm damp sand, cobbles and some real dirt. You have to vary your route to select the best surface. Duane
