My Locale Extreme northern Sierra Nevada
About Me I'm 60, single male. I had been in Retail Management for over 30 years. I have mostly solo bped since the early mid '70's. I XC some, not afraid to go alone, I also solo winter camp, even out in sub-zero temps. A few years ago, I went on a backcountry bp to Alaska, where I flew in by bush plane with five others into Wrangell/St. Elias NP. Since early 2010, I have been collecting vintage/antique camping and bp stoves, having acquired over 90 now. I like many outdoor activities, from bping to dirtbike riding, gardening.

Western Mountaineering Caribou Alternatives
Check out quilts by Enlightened Equipment. If needing something off the shelf, WM may be the best as many cottage industry guys may be behind already, making orders as they come in. Duane

Solar lantern
Thanks Bob, bought a small solar lantern last night. Neat for motorcycle camping, just needs to be charged before leaving. May get stoned at a Coleman Collectors Gathering though. :) Duane

No worries with sewn through construction?
The first night I broke my Caribou in, it rained lightly, so had water dripping off the overhead tree most of the night. I was clammy that night, water puddled up on it in the AM, but other wise d...

REI dividends
I was thinking of the MSR Windboiler, but I like the really old stoves, so may only get new gaiters. Newest stove model I have is the MicroRocket for long trips when alky stoves are not allowed. ...

WM Caribou - What's the practical temperature range?
I've had mine about 11 or 12 years now. Sometimes I'm cooler when temps are still in the 30's, so either did not stay hydrated enough during the day, or had a poor evening meal. I'...

WM Caribou - What's the practical temperature range?
I've had mine down to 26F and 28F-30F a few times too. At the unexpected 26F (dang weather forecast), I just pulled my jacket over my chest and was fine. Depending on temps, I may sleep with ...
