About Me Returned eight years ago to backpacking after a 35 year hiatus. That first loaded pack weighed 30 lbs (total) and that was my day pack!. After several years of tweeking my pack load I have been able to reduce the weight that I carry. My base weight is now 8-10 lbs depending on the type of trip
