About Me 39 year old living in Greenville, SC. I grew up playing in the woods of the PeeDee region of SC. I'm an avid cyclist with a new found passion for bikepacking. I do most of my bike camping, hiking, kayaking and cycling in SC, NC & GA. I've settled in at about 10 to 12 pounds completely loaded at this point - a balance of comfort walking and in camp.

Alternative to carrying deodorant
Clever! When I'm trying to be less offensive on trips, I use these deodorant towelettes I found at minimus.biz. They're pretty small, light and work well. Despite what the name implies, the...

Palmetto Trail
Christine, you can link the trail together from Awendaw to Columbia. After that you'll have to walk county roads to link the relatively short sections together (not worth it IMO). There hasn...

Sweeper - white water respect
Dan, so glad to hear that you came out of that one OK. Even though I knew you made it (as you were posting the details) it still freaked me out. I've been in a few sketchy situations in WW here...

Palmetto Trail (South Carolina) - Awendaw to Monck's Corner
I finally got around to putting together a short summary of my ride from Awendaw up to Monck's Corner. I still intend to put together the whole section from Awendaw to Columbia but I have a few...

Yeah, the ones on the back side of the boat are standard (I didn't ask for anything special). I got several photos of the boat in process yesterday but can't see any evidence of the other t...

I have a boat with the 2012 deck on order. I'll post photos, weights, etc. when I have the boat in hand in a few weeks. The website is a little thin on details around the deck opening size rela...
