My Locale Sierras
About Me After having worked for four years at UC Davis Outdoor Adventures (as an assistant manager and guide) and two years at Shasta Mountain Guides (as a guide), my wife and I have decided it's time for a change. We got rid of everything we owned and are now in the midst of a multi-year world travel. We are mostly interested in healthy food and backpacking in all of the great mountain ranges. When we had a "home" we enjoyed cycling, backcountry skiing, running, and gardening.

To be honest, I didn't even know that the series continued after the first video "A". Of course I knew that was the intention, but I never saw it advertised on BPL for subsequent arti...

Rab Meco
I second Andrew's recommendation. Try out the Rab Meco 120 t shirt. I have one and it is fantastic. I have used their meco line extensively and it is far, far more durable than merino wool, yet...

[Full Disclosure - I guided for Shasta Mountain Guides for several years] This year is light on the snow and so a late June trip would be pushing it for avalanche gulch. YOu might be able to do ...

Baby Gear Reviews
Steven - you're already asking for gear reviews from a 5-week-old baby? I don't know if he's prepared to contribute, though I'd have to ask the power that be if he has to buy his ow...

Torres del Paine camping
Sorry I may be late to this conversation, hopefully not too late to chime in. The DR worked well for us and we spent nearly three months in Patagonia. However, there were a few times we would ha...

Caffin-syle poles on Cloudburst 3
I think the Cloudburst 3 looks fantastic. Not much heavier than the double rainbow, but much more space and stability! I wonder if poles (like Roger Caffin uses) would fit into the sleeves of th...
