Not saying the Steripen is the end all... but you can carry quite a few sets of those tiny CR123 batts and still be saving weight and space as compared to a pump filter.

Truth be told, I can't think of a single bad experience with gear-related warranties... be they stores like REI, Campmor, Backcountry.com... or brands like MontBell, Mountainsmith, MSR, etc., ...
