About Me Grew up in South Jersey, and hiked and backpacked in the Pine Barrens, and in the Pennsylvania stretches of the AT. Went away to college, got married, and stopped all outdoor activity for many years. Six years ago I was 'reborn' (aka divorced), and ended up marrying a woman from the Adirondacks, who introduced me to my new home away from home, and got me back into serious hiking. Am now working on my ADK 46 and Cat3500...

In all my years of hiking in the north country and being a gear head, I have only ever seen one CCW pack for sale....from the folks I know who have them they'll never give them up.

Funny, my dream winter pack is the Cold Cold World Chernobyl - it's not the lightest pack, but I hike with a couple of friends who have it, and it's amazing. Carries a lot, and carries well...

Not sure where
you hike or what your needs are, but I use an older model Osprey Stratos 40 and have hiked a number of winter ADK peaks with that - the old ones were amazing, not too heavy, and had those wing flap...

I weigh about the same, but I think east coast snow is probably wetter, and less float is needed. Have fun if you bought one of these pair!

Almost winter
One pair Koflach Degre boots, size US 12.5 (which is the same as 12, strange way they do their sizes). Includes pair of Austri Alpin step in crampons. Very warm, serious boots...paid close to $400 ...
