My Locale Wet & Humid Southeast....
About Me My stomping grounds are the SE US, and 90% of the time, somewhere on the AT in GA, TN, or NC. Other times I enjoy going to the Smokies, or other smaller wilderness areas such as the Savage Gulf area.
Most of my trips are between 2 - 5 days long, with rare 7 day long trips. My total pack weights are generally under 20 lbs, unless trying new gear, or carrying extra for the kids. In the dead of summer, I enjoy SUL hikes, and have given thought to XUL (almost there...)

Re: Attaching Pillow(case) to Tapered Pad
I found the best way to get a pillow to stay in place on a pad is to either wedge the pillow directly against something like your backpack or the wall of a tent/shelter, or to put a sleeve over you...

Lawson's Shepherd Hooks
I have only did one 7day hike in the Olympics, but I used some of Lawson's Shepherd Hooks and they worked rock solid the entire time... even when some of my guylines lead out into rock fields! ...
