WTB - inexpensive tenkara setup for a co-worker
You might watch steepandcheap.com. I got a Wetfly Tenkara package off there for $115. Probably easiest to go to sacalerts.com, and set up an alert to come to your phone with the keyword "tenka...

Trail Bike Recommendation Please
Craigslist is your friend. Brand name hard tail with good components. If you were closer, I'd make you a great deal on a Jamis 650B, since the wife let me bring home a Scott Genius 740 from San...

Why barefoot isn't best for most runners
I hate running, and I hate being barefoot, so when I misplaced my Vivo Barefoot shoes for a year, I didn't miss them. I haven't tried to run since my knee surgery last year, but I sometimes...

Turkey Bag Cooking vs. Philmont
I'd just say no to Philmont if it's that big a deal. If the only way you can do a 10 day wilderness trek is by having Philmont cater it, I think you're doing your boys a huge disservice...

My final frontier: Pack and Tent - suggestions?
My Conduit gets used 30 times for every one time my Catalyst gets used. The Catalyst is just too big most of the time. And I probably use my GG Gorilla more than my Conduit, just depends on how rou...

The Ultralight Movement is keeping me from backpacking
I like the idea of doing the loop twice. But change clothes before the second loop, and act like you don't know anything about that other guy that looks like you.

Why does America lose its head over 'terror' but ignore its daily gun deaths?
500+ people killed daily by hospital / doctor errors. Why don't we go for the greater good, and focus on that? And gun control might get farther if it didn't focus on punishing the law-a...

Marmot Atom Mens Regular 40 Degree
Nice bag. 1/2 zipper is kind of a pain, and makes it hard to use as a quilt. Seems true to rating.

ULA Catalyst
Replaced my Exos 58 with this, much more comfortable, with more weight. Got a deal on a 2008 model, and added the dual stays. A lot bigger pack than I'll use most of the time. Gained some weight o...

ULA Circuit
Switched to this for more durability, and the ability to carry more water in the desert. Works like a champ, and you couldn't ask for better customer service.

I have to ding it a little for the hip belt. I think the hip belts on the large runs small, because it didn't wrap around me enough to be effective. And that may not be fair to ding it, because al...

Mine kept me warm in the upper 20s, so I'm happy. I'm not completely sure it would reach 20, and keep you warm for 8 hours. But it's a great product for a great price.
