Yes, the photo I posted is misleading. It is the arch side that has collapsed. I am just going to buy another pair of the same brand and go with it. Maybe replacing them sooner next time.

Outer most hiking layer
I use it as my outer most hiking layer. The only exception is my down sweater. I put that on over my wind shirt. I try never to hike in my down so it doesn't need protection.
