My Locale The Gore Range
About Me Colorado is my main stomping ground for backpacking, cycling, skiing (touring) and floating. I’d love to go on more extended thru hikes, but I love my job and where I work, so for now I just try and bank my vacation.

Lately I’ve become more involved with the preservation and future expansion of Wilderness areas in the central Colorado Rockies.

Re: Ridden off, then limped off, the CT

Re: Moose in Colorado
It seems as though they're everywhere I go. On some trips I'll see more Moose than any other big game animal combined.

"They really need a permit system like half dome up there. It was ridiculous and I can only imagine the impact all of those people all summer long are having on the tundra up there." T...

Re: A good start for Rockies info! Maps?
Erica, Colorado is filled with different pockets of intriguing areas throughout. Sure there are the Rockies, but also drier canyon and desert regions (such as the Colorado Plateau, which ext...

East Lake Creek, Holy Cross Wilderness
The end of June had brought hot temperatures to the mountains after a cool end to spring. Tanner and I discuss frozen lakes and large patches of snow fields that could impede our ambition to fi...

Re: 4-5 day loop Leadville area early July?
How early July? Just an FYI regarding snow... I just spoke with someone at the Holy Cross Ranger District that heard reports over the weekend that Missouri Lakes (11,500) are frozen and there...
